The Green Tea: Lee, Aquatic Biologist, and Elise, Ethical Clothing Advocate

"The Green Tea", is our series of Instagram Live chats about conscious consumption, creative expression, and the climate crisis. Every Saturday and Sunday at noon CDT for the rest of April (Earth Month), we're chatting with small business owners, educators, and researchers who share a passion for our planet.

Lee Hrenchuk is an aquatic biologist, life-long environmentalist, slow fashion advocate, and a true believer that you can make or mend almost anything yourself. Building on skills passed down from her parents, she now wears a mostly-handmade wardrobe, makes gifts for friends and family, and regularly sews scientific equipment and gear for work. If you ask her "how do I get into sewing/making?" Be prepared for a long answer, lots of links, 1 on 1 chats, and probably more information than you were looking for! She is a firm believer that everyone should know how to sew on a button. You can follow Lee @cottuscognatus.

Elise Epp is a graphic designer, slow fashion advocate (and Winnipeg's Regional Coordinator for Fashion Revolution), and secret musician. In 2015, she pledged to only buy ethical clothing or sew it herself and she is very pleased to have finally made a pair of trousers that fit well. If you ask her where to find an ethical linen jumpsuit or tie-dye sweatsuit or colourful oxfords, she will happily send you several options. You can follow her work with Fashion Revolution on Instagram at @fash_revwpg and find more resources and her slow fashion directory on eliseeppdesign.com.
