We chat with Katherine of @winnipegsews on all things slow fashion, sustainable textiles, and empowering through sewing.

Katherine came to the slow fashion movement in 2015 with the birth of her fourth child. She decided to go on a ready-to-wear fashion fast and make or thrift all of her family's clothes. Katherine is passionate about bringing the slow fashion movement to more people by making sewing more accessible and fun. Making your own clothes can reduce textile waste, be more eco-conscious by using textiles with environmental certifications and, of course, a way to use your dollars to vote for the world you want to see. Katherine runs Winnipeg Sews, a values-led community sewing studio in South Osborne.
